It was the Bicycle Vert finals and the crowd was huge, almost the entire state of KY comes out to this event and sticks around to check out the fireworks and festivities. Jamie Bestwick, who took the gold, tried to do his best to keep 'em pumped. It was an interesting competition because there was no prelim round and very little practice because of wind delays, which makes it hard to believe that the level of riding was so solid. Because of the fierce winds and the potential for the competition to be cancelled at any minute, the first round was probably the best.

Although GT's Bestwick put together a really solid run that could have won any competition, it was Hoffman rider Kevin Robinson that really stole the show. Robinson, who already had a smoking run going, threw down a no-handed flair to end his final run. This is one of the only times the trick has been landed and the only time it has been successfully executed in competition. Big props to Kevin for pulling off what many thought was close to impossible.

On the not so happy side of vert riding, Thad Miller had a pretty nasty fall during one of his runs when he under rotated on a 540. Thad suffered a concussion and contusions on his cheek and couldn't complete the comp but, at last report, he's doing well and is being checked out by some local doctors.
