In the shadow of the great Edison field and the almighty Mickey Mouse, the first ESPN B3 competition of the year went off. For many of the riders and skaters, it was the first comp of the year after a winter of practicing new tricks in warehouses and indoor parks all over the country. Everyone pulled out the new tricks they've been working on. There were a couple new faces and some legends that decided to show up to tell everyone that they weren't scared.
Dave Mirra puts fear into the hearts of his competitors.

Bicycle Stunt
Dave Mirra always puts on a show, but his performance on the vert ramp surpassed any other rider who thought they could catch the miracle boy. Landing a backflip over the channel followed by a 540 pretty much gave Mirra the crown for vert. Mirra was still on a mission as he went on to win the park contest as well. Longtime pal and competitior, Ryan Nyquist followed close behind in the park competition.

Skateboarding
Rune Glifberg, who isn't always the most consistent skater, proved that on any given day, anyone can own the vert ramp. He threw out a few new tricks, nailed them and put it all together for a clean, solid run. Glifberg's performance and win wasn't the only surprise on the vert ramp. Tony Hawk casually dropped by Anaheim, and dropped in on the halfpipe for a few hours of practice much to the delight of the fans.

Aggressive In-line Skating
Eito Yasutoko, the 17-year-old kid from Japan, reminded fans and family that he is the in-line vert champ from Summer X 2000. His 14-year-old brother, Takeshi, followed close behind with a third place finish. Fabiola da Silva, the renown female skater from Brazil, was not intimidated as the only female vert competitor as she finished in fifth place. She also took the park contest 20 points above fellow competitor, Deborah West of Texas.
