As we rolled to the venue on Sunday morning we were looking forward to some really impressive competitive events. The day before as the competition was winding down an impressive array of pros were showing up to check out the event layout. The Tony Hawk tour and the Dave Mirra tour guys were all in town, Eric Koston, Tony Hawk, Mat Hoffman, Mike Vallely, and Shaun White were all roaming around the venue. We here at EXPN were looking forward to the Skateboarding Vert and the BMX Park event as well as all of the after party coverage. There was even a rumor going around that Shaun White was going to be allowed to skate as a pro in his first skateboarding competition ever. Everything was looking to be a great day of skateboarding and BMX and then we saw the weather report.

It dumped for four straight hours.

The weather called for increased chance of thunderstorms and they weren't kidding either. The sky opened up and rained buckets for three hours straight. The ramps were soaked, thunder and lightning roared, the venue was empty and at about 3 p.m. ET ESPN called the event.

The X Trials Skateboard Vert and BMX Park competitions were cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Prize money for competitors is being split up evenly amongst the pool and the qualifying spots that were available are either being taken from year end standings or the next competition in the World Cup Skateboarding and BS series events.
