Philadelphia, Pa- ESPN has selected Anaheim to host the first of a two-stop competition featuring more than 250 athletes from around the world competing from March 23-25th for medals, prize money and an open invitation to the seventh-annual X Games. Bikes, Boards & Blades invites athletes from all corners of the world to compete in bicycle stunt, skateboarding and aggressive in-line skating.

ESPN chose Anaheim in order to bring large-scale action sporting events to new and enthusiastic markets. Last year's B3 events in Lake Havasu, AZ and Louisville, KY together attracted more than 120,000 spectators.

"ESPN's decision to take the B3 to Anaheim supports our goal of expanding the success and enthusiasm of action sports competition as we welcome new cities to host our ESPN X Games qualifier," said Jack Wienert, Executive Director, ESPN X Games. "Since this is the first contest of the year for many of these athletes, we should be in for some really exciting competition," continued Wienert.

ESPN's B3 will bring together more than 250 of the world's best action sport athletes competing for more than $100,000 in cash prizes and a bid to the invitation only 2001 ESPN X Games to be held August 17-23rd, 2001 in Philadelphia, Pa. The second stop for the ESPN B3 will be held in Louisville, KY, April 20-22nd, 2001.

For the 2001 B3, ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise approximately 55 hours of programming, including re-airs, encore presentations and 11 hours of original programming.
