Expn cought up with Bucky at the ESPN B3 competition in Aneheim. He's been killing it recently in both the half and street. With seventeen years of skating experience, Bucky knows no peak; he just keeps getting better at everything.

EXPN:  Let's get this out of the way first: Who do you ride for?

BL:  Birdhouse, Billabong, Hot Wheels, Clive, Smith glasses, Jones Soda, Protec Helmets, RDS Skateshop and Genetic shoes.

EXPN:  How long have you been with Birdhouse?

BL:  I've been there for four years, I think.

EXPN:  Are you still into the cartoon graphics? Do you think that's a direction that's still going on?

BL:  It's working for us but you don't want to stay with one thing for too long, so we'll probably be messing around with other things, with new graphics, I'm sure.

EXPN:  How much say do you have with your graphics?

BL:  I have everything to do with my graphics or I have nothing to do with my graphics. But right now I have everything to do with them. I've been spending a lot of time on them.

EXPN:  Do you work with the illustrator or do you do them yourself?

BL:  I either sketch it out and draw it out and have the good artist redo it, or I'll call him and tell him what I'm looking at, what I want, and he'll try to put it on some paper and send it to me.

Bucky going big at B3 in Anaheim, CA.

EXPN:  Describe a typical day in your life.

BL:  I wake up at about seven, feed my youngest one a bottle. My oldest one, Devon, is about three. Paris is the younger one. I get her ready for school, dress her, feed her, take her to school, give the little one to my wife, Jen, and then I come back and we run errands. Then I'll probably go skate around two, get done skating around six-thirty, pick up Devon from school, and then I'll come back, probably just relax and eat dinner and call it a day.

EXPN:  Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

BL:  Probably doing the same thing, but maybe ? actually, I don't know what I'll be doing 10 years from now.

EXPN:  Do you want to be involved in the industry somehow, even if you're not skating full time as a pro?

BL:  I'm sure I will be. I mean, it's taken up 17 years of my life. I don't know anything else.

EXPN:  How do you feel about ESPN's involvement in all this? They've been doing it for a while, but are they doing it right?

BL:  As long as they're getting word from us, like when they're wrong and when they're right, as long as they're getting some kind of feedback, I think it's great.

EXPN:  When did you get your first board? How'd you learn about skateboarding?

BL:  It was the cool thing to do at the time. I used to breakdance and I used to ride my BMX bike, and my bike got stolen, and skateboarding was the new in-thing. I would borrow my friend's skateboard we would go out. I got another bike and I would ride around and share a skateboard. And at Christmas I got a skateboard. And ever since then, I've been on it.

EXPN:  Where did you grow up?

BL:  Baltimore, Maryland.

EXPN:  Domestic or imported?

BL:  Would that be alcohol?

EXPN:  Yeah.

BL:  Both, actually. Yuengling for domestic and Newcastle for imported.

EXPN:  If you could destroy any person's career, skating or otherwise, who would it be?

BL:  I don't know. I believe in bad karma, so I'll leave that a "no comment."

EXPN:  What's the worst thing that ever happened in skateboarding?

BL:  Big pants and small wheels.

EXPN:  Hip-hop or hard rock?

BL:  I'd have to go with hard rock.

EXPN:  Is there anything your parents wanted you to be growing up?

BL:  A high school graduate.

EXPN:  What bothers you most about being a pro?

BL:  Being at the ramps on time when I'm trying to learn a trick, and having to sign autographs while I'm beating myself up on the ramp.

Giving back to the fans.

EXPN:  Any pre-run rituals?

BL:  I just like to stretch before I skate.

EXPN:  In your mind, who are the best street skaters right now?

BL:  The best street skater right now by far is Eric Koston.

EXPN:  Describe the best day of your life.

BL:  Still pushing for it. I've had best moments, but never a best day.

EXPN:  What other sports do you participate in besides skating?

BL:  I like kart racing, auto cross, and driving, just driving my car, like attending driving school and everything. I like pool. I like building stuff like around the house.

EXPN:  What's in your CD player right now?

BL:  I got a 12-disc, so I can run through a lot. Tool, Melon, Black Sabbath, Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Marley, Snoop Dog and Radiohead.
