Axel competed in the grueling 24 Hours of Aspen five times, and won it three (1993, 1996, 1997).After winning the WX Qualifier at Squaw Valley to earn a WX invitation, he crashed hard in his WX qualifying run and was unable to compete in the bracketed rounds.
