Notable:
After spending seven years on the Canadian National Downhill Team, and finishing 32nd in the downhill and 17th in the combined at the Olympics in Salt Lake City, UT in 2002, Darin McBeath admits he was losing his passion for skiing. He turned to skiercross to re-ignite the flame. McBeath finished 4th in his first skiercross, the Extreme Sports Series at Sunshine Village, Alberta, CAN in April ('02), and 3rd at his second skiercross, the Saab Crossmax World Open in Les 2 Alpes, FRA in Nov ('02).
Quote:
"The last two years were kind of a drag, and I lost a lot of my desire to even ski. I needed to take a step back. Skiercross came up and it refueled my passion for skiing. It is not as high stress, it is competitive, but the lifestyle is more attractive."
