Notable:
Tara Dakides owns women's slopestyle competitions as well as the most women's WX gold. Tara's style, flow, and presence defines women's freestyle going into WX VII. A gnarly wreck while warming up for a comp in Feb. '02 took her out for the remainder of the season. After nine months off her board, Dakides was starting to get back in her groove when calamity struck again. She tore her meniscus and ACL on the same knee, coming up short on a kicker in Mammoth, CA. She had the meniscus operated on (11/28/02), but not the ACL. She plans to "strenuously rehab," and try to make it to WX VII.
Quote:
"Whenever you have an injury it's a mental game to come back. The mental part of it for this is just hoping that my leg is strong enough to take the blows right now. As far as being scared to hit rails again, there's not really any mental deal with that because the way I got hurt was kind of a freak accident. I wasn't really trying anything difficult, it was just kind of a stupid thing. I don't think it will be too hard to come back, mentally."
